Willmott Dixon awarded £20m Goldsmiths contract

Willmott Dixon has been named as preferred bidder for a £20m contract to build media and communication facilities for Goldsmiths college at the University of London.

The four-storey, steel-framed building will be built on the existing campus in New Cross, southeast London and will house a range of specialist rooms, including radio, TV and photographic studios and darkrooms, a 250-seat lecture theatre, teaching rooms and offices.

Goldsmiths aims for the facility to achieve a Very Good BREEAM rating, by installing natural ventilation throughout the buildings, and four large wind towers on the roof.

Willmott Dixon is working with architect Stride Treglown, and aims to use local sub-contractors where possible. The project is due to be complete by August 2010.
