Mansell has been awarded a £11.1m project to improve the Accident & Emergency Department and Fracture Clinic at Basildon University Hospital, Essex.

The existing single-storey department is to be extended outwards over two storeys using a lightweight steel frame. An additional refurbishment element will include extensive strip-out, re-modelling and fitting-out. The department will expand into new space created within the former Endoscopy Unit.

Work is to be carried out in a number of phases. The project has recently begun on site and is expected to finish in May 2012.
