| Construction on track for new Olympic Park network |
Progress is now being made on the new network of roads and bridges being built throughout the Olympic Park site. The site is made up of poorly connected areas of land, the aim is that the new infrastructure being put in place will help join up the Park both during the Games and for the communities that will live in and around the area after 2012.
New bridges onto the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre sites are among the essential new links that have now been built. Work has also begun on the Olympic Park Loop Road.
Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) Director of Infrastructure and Utilities Simon Wright said: ‘As the main venues make their mark on the Olympic Park skyline, we are also seeing the essential new infrastructure that will link them together taking shape. These new networks of roads and bridges are already transforming the once fragmented Olympic Park site, creating new links for construction activity and providing the building blocks for an open and accessible Park in 2012 and beyond.’
