Kier secures 700 home scheme

Kier’s social housing partnerships arm has been named preferred bidder for the redevelopment of Derby’s old Manor and Kingsway Hospital site.
Following the completed demolition works by Connell Brother, Kier will be working alongside the Homes and Communities Agency and Derby City Council to deliver around 700 new homes and a business park.
Building works is expected to begin this autumn, and within the 10 year construction period, Kier will also provide local training and employment opportunities as well as encouraging local business to participate.
Graham Dobbs, head of Midlands North for the HCA said, “Manor Kingsway is a local priority, not least because the derelict buildings have been an eyesore for the communities around the site.”
Managing Director for Kier Partnership Homes, Chris King said, “We are very keen to encourage economic, environmental and social sustainability and the enhancement of the green infrastructure including maximising its improvement as a recreation, amenity and biodiversity resource will create opportunities for employment linked to leisure, commercial and retail uses too.”
