Job fears at May Gurney
Plymouth based workers at May Gurney are fearing for their jobs after redundancy warnings were issued.
Around 65 posts across Devon and Cornwall are under threat amid a sharp drop in work.
GMB Union organiser Kevin Norman has confirmed that he is due to meet May Gurney chiefs today, but no official word has come from the construction company.
Mr Norman said, “The amount of work coming from South West Water has diminished significantly, and they [May Gurney] are therefore looking to avoid redundancies by cutting working hours.
Mr Norman also confirmed the firm was proposing to make two of its six regional plumbers redundant.
