Lord's cricket ground unveils new floodlights

Lord's Cricket Ground has unveiled four new telescopic floodlights ahead of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup.

The masts, supplied by Abacus Lighting, can be extended to 48m when in use and retracted to just over 29m when not in use and take just 20 minutes to be fully extended for use.

The telescopic masts, which weigh 25 tonnes each and took 10 weeks to fabricate, were transported to site in three pieces and a 500 tonne crane was used to hoist each mast into position.

Abacus has previously installed floodlights at Stanford Park, Antigua; Green Park Stadium, Kanpur; the Kensington Oval ground in Barbados; Trent Bridge and the Brit Oval in England.
