Mechanex UK has been named preferred bidder on the £1.1m contract to install a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system for the new customer-contact centre of John Lewis Partnership in Hamilton.

This is one of two new customer-contact centres and is on Hamilton International Technology Park. It is expected to create at least 250 jobs.

Work is due to be completed by May 2011.
