Five firms are vying for a £25m Decent Homes contract for Ashfield District Council in Nottingham.

Herbert T Forrest, Frank Haslam Milan, Henry Boot, Lovell and Kier are all thought to have had discussions with the Ashfield Homes ALMO last week.

The work will include the replacement of kitchens, bathrooms and central heating, as well as electrical rewiring on around 7,000 council-owned properties within the borough.

The project is due to start in November with completion set for March 2012.
