Morgan Ashurst wins £71m Airbus deal

Morgan Ashurst has been named as the preferred bidder for a £71m deal from Airbus to manufacture a composite wing assembly facility in Broughton, Flintshire.

The 52,300 square metre factory will be used to assemble carbon fibre wings. It will be designed by Morgan Professional Services, who will provide the architectural, civil and structural engineering design for the mechanical and electrical services.

The facility will be a steel-frame structure with a three-bay configuration. It will include a vast overhead craning system to move the bulky wing structures.

The project is expected to create up to 400 jobs in the area and is due to be completed in 2010.
