Drilling is the cutting process of large materials such as wood. metal and concrete.
Different drilling methods are used dependent on the type of material. the size of the area needed to be drilled and the timeframe allocated to the project.
Drilling involves the drillbit rotating and rising between the drill and the material to create a hole of various sizes. This can be used for creating an air vent. allowing access for road works. creating fasteners for assembly. weight reduction and allowing access to hard to reach areas.
Some of the basic drilling operations include reaming. which allows better use of the diameter and also improves the surface finish. Counterboring provides a step hole in which a larger diameter follws a small diameter into the hole. Countersinking is a similar process but the step in the hole is cone shape and finally. centering allows contractors to create a hole to establish the right location for further drilling.
