Landslip Drilling Tests Completed
26.01.09
A landslip at Knipe Point which caused three properties to slide leading to them having to be demolished is currently being investigated.
Scarborough Borough Council's cabinet have approved a study into the cause of the landslip so that measures can be taken in the future to prevent any problems. The drilling has now been completed and the results are expected to be announced in April. The study will be funded by The Environment Agency who have agreed a figure of £126,000.
The A165 Filey Road was also threatened by the landslip if it occurs again.
Officials are awaiting the results of the drilling study and whether further funding can be obtained before they look for any solutions to the problem.
