| Five share £20m South Wales highways contract |
Five firms are on board so far for a £20m highways maintenance deal in South Wales.
The work for Newport City Council is divided into four lots. Lot One will be carried out by Tarmac and Hanson and will cover carriageway resurfacing works.
Lot Two involves footway reconstruction tasks and will be carried out by Alun Griffiths.
The third package of work, streetwide improvements, includes both carriageway resurfacing and reconstruction, plus associated footway projects such as kerbs and highway drainage.
The final package, Lot Four, covers carriageway surface dressing and footway slurry sealing, but a contractor has not yet been appointed to the scheme.
The term-maintenance contracts will run for three years, with work on site starting this summer.
