HLM Architects has submitted designs for a £16.3m school near St Austell, Cornwall for plannning permission.

Brannel school, which is designed to achieve a BREEAM "excellent" rating, is hoped to have achieved planning approval by October this year, allowing work to begin on site in early 2010 with completion set in time for the academic year in 2011.

The 6,600m2 building is to be constructed on existing playing fields of the school, with the site of the old building turned into playing fields once construction is complete.
