ISG has been named preferred bidder to build student accommodation for the Blackstone Group.

The project is to build a Nido branded accommodation block and ISG will build a 272-bed development in Notting Hill, which will include twin bed apartments, single studio units and specially designed disabled rooms.

The project sees the demolition of an existing single-storey and part four-storey mixed use building on the site, which is adjacent to the Grand Union Canal.

A seven-storey reinforced concrete frame structure will then be constructed, which features an internal courtyard area at first floor level, and a gym, lounge area and six individual workspace units at ground level.

Off site manufactured bathroom pods and kitchen units will be used throughout the development, which aim for a BREEAM very good rating.

The project is due to start soon, with completion set for summer 2011.
