Foundations are complete for Olympic Village

Lend Lease has completed the foundations of several buildings for the Olympic Village in East London. The Development includes quality new homes in London together with new parks, public squares and community facilities for everyone to enjoy.

Work is also underway on the ground-floor level of the first residential buildings, as well as piling works to form foundations on twenty-eight buildings, with over 2000 concrete piles installed more than 20 metres deep. Work has started on the structure of the Village and infrastructure works are also underway with two railway bridges lifted into place and nearly a quarter of a mile of railway line covered in a concrete tunnel allowing access across the site.

Olympic Delivery Authority chief executive Mr Higgins, commented that: "the acceleration of activity on site will help maintain the momentum of this huge project."
