Crossrail has put a contract for tunnels, shafts and subways work concerning Liverpool Street and Whitechapel Station tunnels out to tender this weel in the Official Journal of the European Union on Monday.

Both station tunnels comprise the construction of access shafts and Sprayed Concrete Lining (SCL) tunnels. Including:

• construction of platform, concourse, cross passage and escalator tunnels using sprayed concrete lining techniques;

• construction of temporary construction access shafts;
  

• transportation of all excavated material from the works by road, to pre-designated transfer facilities adjacent to the River Thames;
  

• temporary power, lighting, ventilation, drainage and communications systems to provide the works which will be left behind for the follow-on system-wide contractors;
  

• the provision of temporary invert fill to the platform tunnels to enable the running tunnel TBM’s to be pulled through.
  

Tenders are due in by 15 December.
