Herzog & de Meuron reveals £400m revamp of Lord's

According to The Times newspaper, plans for a £400m redevelopment of Lord's cricket ground in St John's Wood have been put forward by Swiss architect Herzog & de Meuron.

The scheme would see the capacity of the ground increased by 7,500, and the development paid for by the sale of luxury built flats worth up to £1.4m each.

The owners of Lord's have stated that they are not planning to sell the stadium's naming rights to finance the redevelopment of the famous venue.

Work is likely to begin in 2011 as planning permission is still required. It is likely the scheme will take ten years to complete.
