| Miller wins £200m Stephenson Quarter contract |
Miller Construction has been named preferred bidder for a £200m Stephenson Quarter project in Newcastle, which is due to start in early 2010.
The project, which is situated next to the city centre's Central Station, will include the build of two hotels, 155 flats, 40,000m2 of office space, multi-storey car park, shops and restaurants.
The project is due to start in early 2010 and take up to ten years to complete.
David Slater, Newcastle City Council's executive director of environment and regeneration commented: "This is one of the biggest and most detailed applications we have ever received. It will revive a neglected area of the city to bring jobs, homes, hotels and history to life. We are very excited that such a quality development has been approved, even in tough times."
